"The Clearing"

Less than two weeks ago, Therese Henning, licensed massage therapist and owner of Body Bar in West Seattle, was sharing with a friend about her vision for starting a sustainability project in the West Seattle area that would create synergy between her passion for helping those in need, and the gift of health and vitality. One of the ideas she described while placing her order with the Fleshy's Coffee owner, Amber, is to use a piece of existing property that is currently unused dirt and plant a garden of produce and flowers. As she described that the variety of vegetables would be distributed to local farmer's markets, and how the homeless could sell bouquets of flowers; a perfect stranger offered his land. Ten days later with a small army of volunteers who caught the vision, and simple gardening tools in hand; the clearing began.

The first step to one woman's dream to build a community for healing, Secret Garden Association is a commercial entity that will grow and harvest produce to distribute at wholesale through a network of local markets. The floral arrangements will be distributed through the homeless who are vending subscriptions for a local paper.

MISSION
Bringing sustainable systems to local community through unity, sharing strengths and gifts.

VISION
Create a cooperative, non-profit foundation for holistic healing and restoration.

The Secret Garden society is the first step toward a giant, long-term vision for Healing Life Foundation. A global network of organizations and people united with one common goal: To create a movement for improved health, vitality and economic sustainability for all.

Volunteers are needed weekly on Mondays & Sundays 11:00am - 5:00pm. For more info...
